The Holly group investigated that idea that cocaine resistance could be passed from a father to a male offspring. The paper goes into a few experiments which show no difference between males and females, and how the male male progeny show drug addiction resistance.
What I enjoyed most of the paper is that they investigated the mechanism as to why this could be the case in a very clear manner. They isolated a specific protein which was be lived to be involved in resistance and showed how it directly correlated with the previous results. They then specifically antagonize it's receptor and found the lack of resistance shown before.
The next step I would like to see is why this protein is only transferred from a specific parent to a specific offspring, and where the localized gene is located.
